Version: 1.0 Created: 2025-12-13 Author: Golden Thread System

Purpose

This SOP documents how to use the Chat Tagger Wizard (ChatTaggerWizard.html) to organize AI conversations (Claude, ChatGPT) using the Golden Thread system. The wizard provides step-by-step workflows for different scenarios.

Overview

The Chat Tagger Wizard offers four workflow modes:

Mode Use Case Steps
🆕 New Project Starting a fresh project with a new AI conversation 6
🏷️ Tag Existing Chat Applying an existing Project ID to a conversation 5
📦 Archive Sprint Bulk-processing old chats (Bankruptcy Protocol) 4
☀️ Morning Scan Daily 5-minute review of active projects 3

Prerequisites

Accessing the Wizard

# Windows
start D:\temp\myprojects\golden-thread-system\src\app\ChatTaggerWizard.html

# WSL/Linux
xdg-open /mnt/d/temp/myprojects/golden-thread-system/src/app/ChatTaggerWizard.html

# Or double-click the file in File Explorer

Workflow 1: New Project

Use when: You’re starting a new project and have an AI conversation you want to track.

Steps:

  1. Select Mode - Click “New Project” card
  2. Generate ID - A unique PROJ-ADJECTIVE-NOUN ID is generated
    • Enter a project name
    • Optionally describe the chat topic
  3. Mark Up Chat - Follow the checklist to rename your Claude/ChatGPT conversation
    • Format: [PROJ-XXXX-XXXX] Topic Description
    • Copy the chat URL
  4. Document Scatter Index - Fill in locations where the project lives
    • Claude URL
    • Local folder path
    • Google Drive, GitHub, etc.
  5. Create Obsidian Note - Copy the generated template to your vault
    • Optionally click “Register in Control Tower” to sync
  6. Verification - Confirm all steps completed

Output:

Workflow 2: Tag Existing Chat

Use when: You already have a Project ID and want to tag a new or existing AI conversation with it.

Steps:

  1. Select Mode - Click “Tag Existing Chat” card
  2. Select Project - Choose from your ControlTower projects
    • Use search to filter
    • Enter a topic for this specific conversation
  3. Mark Up Chat - Rename your AI conversation with the Project ID
  4. Update Scatter Index - Add the new chat URL to the project’s links
    • Click “Add Link to Control Tower” to sync
  5. Verification - Confirm completion

Output:

Workflow 3: Archive Sprint (Bankruptcy Protocol)

Use when: You have many old, disorganized AI chats and need to bulk-process them.

Philosophy:

“Don’t migrate the mess—move it out of sight. Only tag what you actively touch.”

Steps:

  1. Select Mode - Click “Archive Sprint” card
  2. Bankruptcy Protocol - Create archive folders across platforms:
    • Local: D:\Projects\_ARCHIVE_PRE_2025\
    • Google Drive: _ARCHIVE_PRE_2025 folder
    • OneDrive: _ARCHIVE_PRE_2025 folder
    • Obsidian: _ARCHIVE_PRE_2025 folder
    • StandardNotes: #archive-pre-2025 tag
  3. Batch Chat Tagger - Go through old chats:
    • Tag: Assign a Project ID to chats worth keeping
    • Skip: Leave dead chats untagged (they sink to the bottom naturally)
  4. Summary - Review what was tagged vs. archived

The Touch-to-Tag Rule:

Output:

Workflow 4: Morning Scan

Use when: Starting your work day and need to review active projects.

Steps:

  1. Select Mode - Click “Morning Scan” card
  2. Review Active Projects - See all Active/Planning projects from ControlTower
    • Select ONE project to focus on today
    • Apply the “Active 5 Rule”: Only 3-5 projects actually move the needle
  3. Where Did You Leave Off? - View the project’s Scatter Index
    • Click links to jump directly to Claude chats, folders, etc.
    • Add quick notes to the Captain’s Log
    • Save notes to ControlTower

The Active 5 Rule:

“You likely have many ‘open’ projects, but only 3-5 are actually moving the needle this week. Focus on those.”

Output:

Data Synchronization

The Chat Tagger Wizard shares localStorage with ControlTower:

Changes made in either tool are immediately available in the other (after page refresh).

Chat Naming Convention

Always use this format when renaming AI conversations:

[PROJ-ADJECTIVE-NOUN] Topic Description

Examples:

This makes chats:
